Made in Sheffield
HK Clothing, Made in Sheffield, is a sportswear and athleisure brand, focusing on creating ethical and environmentally friendly clothing that is still affordable, comfortable, practical and stylish. But we are more than just a clothing brand. Please continue reading to explore our values and ethos, and find out why HK Clothing is so important to me, Hebe Knowles, the founder of HK Clothing.
Made in Sheffield
What exactly does made in Sheffield mean? Made in Sheffield means:
Helping to reduce carbon emissions by making in the UK, and selling only to the UK.
Made in our workshop in Sheffield. Every process- designed, cut, sewn and packaged. Our screen printing in done in Nottingham.
Higher standards, and not just in our manufacturing. We know exactly who is making our products, their working environment, their pay etc.
Environmentally Friendly
This term gets thrown around a lot. Let me explain exactly what we are doing at HK Clothing to help to protect our planet:
Made in our 100% electric workshop.
Biodegradable packaging.
No unnecessary packaging. Why does your sweater need to arrive with ten plastic stickers, in a clear plastic bag, inside a plastic jiffy bag? We send out or garments in one, biodegradable bag.
Made in the UK, selling to the UK. We don’t import our garments, and we don’t ship them to outside of the UK either.
We are not fast fashion.
We source fabrics and materials from the UK, or as close to the UK as possible.
We source sustainable and recycled materials where possible.
Ethics
What does ethics mean to you? To me it means helping those who are less fortunate than yourself. It also means that if you can make a difference, then you should. At HK Clothing it is important that where we can do the right thing, we do. Here is how we support doing the right thing:
Not damaging the environment.
Ensuring high working standards and not exploiting people.
Women in Sport
Having worked in the outdoor industry and being a “sporty” person myself I feel that women are really under catered for in this market. Brands are male-orientated with women as an afterthought, and often the clothes available to women are frumpy and ill fitting. I wanted to create a brand that enabled women to wear comfortable, practical clothing that they can exercise in, but then go to the pub afterwards and not feel like they’re under dressed. Why does being “sporty” mean that you cant be feminine too?
